Fearing the site of Prophet Muhammad's Tomb could lead to idolatry , Saudi Arabia is planning to move the remains to an unknown place

The Prophet Muhammad, born in 570 AD, is believed by Muslims to be the last of God's prophets to mankind who delivered the religion's final revelation.The tomb of the Prophet Muhammad is seen as the second most important site for Muslims after the Kaaba in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.Fearing the site of Prophet Muhammad's Tomb is leading to idolatry , Saudi Arabia is planning to move the remains of the prophet to an unknown place.





The tomb of the Prophet Muhammad could be moved from the al-Masjid al-Nabawi mosque in Medina, Saudi Arabia, where it is currently housed. According to some sources Government want to prevent pilgrims from attending and venerating the tomb because they believe this is "shirq", or idolatry. Idolatry, known as 'shirq' in the Islamic faith, is the worship of objects or saints and is forbidden in the faith. Millions of pilgrims gather to circle the building during the hajj, a huge five-day pilgrimage to the site each year.

Controversial plans to move the tomb of the Prophet could lead to serious problems across the Muslim world. But it is feared the emergence of plans, which spring from a reform movement known as Wahhabism, could divide Muslims, with both Sunnis and Shias thought to be opposed.
