The movement, led by Harold Camping who runs the evangelical station Family Radio ( www.familyradio.com ) , is predicting that mid-May of this year will bring about Judgment Day--the time when, according to some, the earth will be destroyed due to mankind's sins.

Camping believes this will occur on May 21st because of a mathematical system he created to interpret prophecies hidden in the Bible.Earlier in 1990's he predicted the Sept. 6, 1994 as Judgement Day using the same mathematical system he used for calculating the May 21 2011 as Judgement day. This time he claims the earlier mistake will not happen this time.

Pakistani PM to watch cricket cup semi-final in India

Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani is to travel to India to watch a cricket World Cup match between the two South Asian nations, hoping the visit will nudge along a fragile peace process between the old rivals.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday invited Gilani and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to watch the hotly contested World Cup semi-final to be played in Mohali on Wednesday.

The Pakistani government said on Sunday that Singh's invitation was a "continuation of the commitment" of Gilani and Singh to the peace process between the two countries.

"The Prime Minister of Pakistan has said that such an invitation will provide a fillip to diplomacy, where the two countries are set to resume their bilateral dialogue," an official statement said.

"We want to promote peace in the region and there can't be any alternative except dialogue."

In a goodwill gesture, President Asif Ali Zardari will also free an Indian national, Gopal Das, who has been languishing in a Pakistani prison for 27 years, his office said.

Convert tax gains into higher investments

Mumbai, Mar 27 (PTI) Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today sought higher investments from companies in return for boosting their business margins through budget proposals like sparing any hike in excise duty rates.

He also sought help from Corporate India in pushing further the government''s economic growth and reforms agenda and said this support was necessary for him to meet their expectations.

"Just as I have to meet up to your expectations to get you to scale new heights of productivity and growth, you also have to meet my hopes, in the process strengthening my hands," he said in opening remarks at post-budget conference organised by industry chamber Assocham here today.

"Reforms are not a one shot exercise; they have to be pursued continuously in keeping with the changing contexts and the growing aspirations of the people. I can do more, when I have the space to do more. You have to do your bit to create that space for me," he added.

Before Buying a Home

Due diligence of a property:

To ensure credibility of the builder, two must-have documents for a home buyer are the approved drawings of the project and the Intimation of Disapproval (IOD) which is an instruction set pertaining to construction from an authority to the builder.

Buyers looking to buy space in under-construction buildings should obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the lender, if the property is mortgaged, and a commencement certificate which is a proof that the builder has obtained all licenses and permissions from the appropriate statutory authorities. In case the buyer doesn't hold the NOC and the builder defaults on his mortgage payments, the buyer may be evicted from the property. The builder should provide a clear land title, which implies that the property is free of litigation and associated debt. A source of risk for under-construction projects is the uncertainty on completion time.

Libyan rebel spokesman Claims Muammar Gaddafi's hometown had been captured

BENGHAZI, Libya (Reuters) - A Libyan rebel spokesman said Muammar Gaddafi's hometown of Sirte had been captured by the rebels on Monday.

No independent verification of the rebel statement was immediately available.

"It's confirmed Sirte has fallen into pro-democracy hands," said the rebel spokesman, Shamsiddin Abdulmolah.

He said the rebels had not faced much resistance from pro-Gaddafi forces.

Celebratory gunfire erupted and car horns sounded in the eastern rebel stronghold of Benghazi as news of the rebel statement about Sirte spread.

The ramshackle rebel army has pushed west to retake a series of towns from pro-Gaddafi forces who are being pounded by Western air strikes.

Emboldened by the help of the air strikes, the rebels have rapidly reversed military losses in their five-week insurgency and regained control of all the main oil terminals in eastern Libya, as far as the town of Bin Jawad.

A Reuters reporter in Sirte, Gaddafi's hometown and an important military base about 150 km (90 miles) further along the coast, heard four blasts on Sunday night. It was unclear if they were in the town or its outskirts.

The reporter also saw a convoy of 20 military vehicles including truck-mounted anti-aircraft guns leaving Sirte and moving westwards towards Tripoli, along with dozens of civilian cars carrying families and stuffed with personal belongings.

Radiation fears mount again in Japan after plant workers injured

TOKYO (Reuters) - Radiation fears escalated in Japan on Friday after workers suffered burns as they tried to cool an earthquake-crippled nuclear plant, while the government sowed confusion over whether it was widening an evacuation zone

around the facility.

Prime Minister Naoto Kan, making his first public statement on the crisis in a week, said the situation at the Fukushima nuclear power complex north of Tokyo was not getting worse but described it as "nowhere near the point" of being resolved.

"We are making efforts to prevent it from getting worse, but I feel we cannot become complacent," he told reporters. "We must continue to be on our guard."

The comments reflected a spike of unease in Japan after several days of slow but steady progress in containing the nuclear crisis, which was triggered by a devastating earthquake and tsunami two weeks ago.

Over 10,000 people were killed and 17,500 are still missing in the disaster. But even those numbers have been eclipsed by the possibility of a catastrophic meltdown at Fukushima, just 250 km (150 miles) north of Tokyo.
