Other side of Lokpal Bill by Anna Hazare

Email Forwarded:

The Jan Lokpal Bill, proposed by Kisan Hazare is flawed.
(If u think i'm joking, here's a link to the draft bill. go check it out for yourself! and pls pls, let's all be sensible and not just get taken over by this hype! http://www.lokpalbillconsultation.org/docs/lokpalbill2_2.pdf)

Let's unite against corruption. let's stand together for a better India. But not Hazare's way!
Yes, I am against corruption. But I DON"T SUPPORT HAZARE's BILL.
I want DEMOCRACY NOT BLACKMAIL

First and foremost, the bill demands unquestionable powers for the lokpal to do as it deems fit - section 35 (see down).
Here are some more quirks in Hazare's jan lokpal bill:

the bill states that the lokpal shall be given powers of the police and the authority to transfer or order policemen to cases as it desires.
12. Lokpal to be a deemed police officer
This may be for purposes of investigation or anything. But what about cases that these policemen are already working on? is corruption/ graft the sole crime? are petty crimes against the common people, US, too petty to be given it's due?
And all tht apart, we actually want to give the powers of the police to a bunch of people who have selected themselves as 'clean people' fit to clean up the country? WOW!

the bill also states that once the lokpal makes a decision, it shall be adhered to. and in case of non-compliance, it shall be treated as contempt of court. What a joke!!
13.(4) In order to get its orders complied with, the Lokpal shall have, and exercise the same jurisdiction
powers and authority in respect of contempt of itself as a High court has and may exercise, and,
for this purpose, the provisions of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971

There is also this clause: 13C. Powers under Indian Telegraph Act: An appropriate bench of Lokpal shall be deemed to be
designated authority under section 5 of Indian Telegraph Act. Such bench would be empowered to
approve interception and monitoring of messages of data or voice transmitted through telephones,
internet or any other medium as covered under India Telegraph Act, read with Information and
Technology Act 2000 and as per rules and provisions made under Indian telegraph Act 1885.

Now check this out.
27.(2) No proceedings of the Lokpal shall be held to be bad for want of form and except on the ground of
jurisdiction, no proceedings or decision of the Lokpal shall be liable to be challenged, reviewed, quashed or called in question in any court of ordinary Civil Jurisdiction

oh, and here's the biggest one yet:

35. This Act (the lokpal bill) shall override the provisions of all other laws.
