2011 May 21 - The judgement day

The Judgement Day May 21st 2011

The movement, led by Harold Camping who runs the evangelical station Family Radio ( www.familyradio.com ) , is predicting that mid-May of this year will bring about Judgment Day--the time when, according to some, the earth will be destroyed due to mankind's sins.

Camping believes this will occur on May 21st because of a mathematical system he created to interpret prophecies hidden in the Bible.Earlier in 1990's he predicted the Sept. 6, 1994 as Judgement Day using the same mathematical system he used for calculating the May 21 2011 as Judgement day. This time he claims the earlier mistake will not happen this time.

Cricket Diplomacy between India and Pakistan

Pakistani PM to watch cricket cup semi-final in India

Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani is to travel to India to watch a cricket World Cup match between the two South Asian nations, hoping the visit will nudge along a fragile peace process between the old rivals.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday invited Gilani and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to watch the hotly contested World Cup semi-final to be played in Mohali on Wednesday.

The Pakistani government said on Sunday that Singh's invitation was a "continuation of the commitment" of Gilani and Singh to the peace process between the two countries.

"The Prime Minister of Pakistan has said that such an invitation will provide a fillip to diplomacy, where the two countries are set to resume their bilateral dialogue," an official statement said.

"We want to promote peace in the region and there can't be any alternative except dialogue."

In a goodwill gesture, President Asif Ali Zardari will also free an Indian national, Gopal Das, who has been languishing in a Pakistani prison for 27 years, his office said.

Use your credit card for a better credit score

Currently there is an increasing awareness about the importance of a credit score and the impact it has on any loan who wish to opt for in future! If you are one of those individuals who plan to take a home loan a few years down the line and do not have a credit score at all, then it is time to thought of starting a credit score record, which will benefit you in the long run.

Your credit card can be the single most important factor in improving and increasing your credit score. On the other hand it can also plummet your score to dark depths if you are not careful. Convert tax gains into higher investments

Mumbai, Mar 27 (PTI) Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today sought higher investments from companies in return for boosting their business margins through budget proposals like sparing any hike in excise duty rates.

He also sought help from Corporate India in pushing further the government''s economic growth and reforms agenda and said this support was necessary for him to meet their expectations.

"Just as I have to meet up to your expectations to get you to scale new heights of productivity and growth, you also have to meet my hopes, in the process strengthening my hands," he said in opening remarks at post-budget conference organised by industry chamber Assocham here today.

"Reforms are not a one shot exercise; they have to be pursued continuously in keeping with the changing contexts and the growing aspirations of the people. I can do more, when I have the space to do more. You have to do your bit to create that space for me," he added.

Before Buying a Home

For most middle and upper-middle class families, a house is the most expensive asset owned by them. The asset also has emotional value and therefore families should perform meticulous research before buying the same. The following is a set of must-dos before buying a house.

Due diligence of a property:

To ensure credibility of the builder, two must-have documents for a home buyer are the approved drawings of the project and the Intimation of Disapproval (IOD) which is an instruction set pertaining to construction from an authority to the builder.

Buyers looking to buy space in under-construction buildings should obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the lender, if the property is mortgaged, and a commencement certificate which is a proof that the builder has obtained all licenses and permissions from the appropriate statutory authorities. In case the buyer doesn't hold the NOC and the builder defaults on his mortgage payments, the buyer may be evicted from the property. The builder should provide a clear land title, which implies that the property is free of litigation and associated debt. A source of risk for under-construction projects is the uncertainty on completion time.

Libyan rebel spokesman Claims Muammar Gaddafi's hometown had been captured

BENGHAZI, Libya (Reuters) - A Libyan rebel spokesman said Muammar Gaddafi's hometown of Sirte had been captured by the rebels on Monday.

No independent verification of the rebel statement was immediately available.

"It's confirmed Sirte has fallen into pro-democracy hands," said the rebel spokesman, Shamsiddin Abdulmolah.

He said the rebels had not faced much resistance from pro-Gaddafi forces.

Celebratory gunfire erupted and car horns sounded in the eastern rebel stronghold of Benghazi as news of the rebel statement about Sirte spread.

The ramshackle rebel army has pushed west to retake a series of towns from pro-Gaddafi forces who are being pounded by Western air strikes.

Emboldened by the help of the air strikes, the rebels have rapidly reversed military losses in their five-week insurgency and regained control of all the main oil terminals in eastern Libya, as far as the town of Bin Jawad.

A Reuters reporter in Sirte, Gaddafi's hometown and an important military base about 150 km (90 miles) further along the coast, heard four blasts on Sunday night. It was unclear if they were in the town or its outskirts.

The reporter also saw a convoy of 20 military vehicles including truck-mounted anti-aircraft guns leaving Sirte and moving westwards towards Tripoli, along with dozens of civilian cars carrying families and stuffed with personal belongings.

Radiation fears mount again in Japan

Radiation fears mount again in Japan after plant workers injured

TOKYO (Reuters) - Radiation fears escalated in Japan on Friday after workers suffered burns as they tried to cool an earthquake-crippled nuclear plant, while the government sowed confusion over whether it was widening an evacuation zone

around the facility.

Prime Minister Naoto Kan, making his first public statement on the crisis in a week, said the situation at the Fukushima nuclear power complex north of Tokyo was not getting worse but described it as "nowhere near the point" of being resolved.

"We are making efforts to prevent it from getting worse, but I feel we cannot become complacent," he told reporters. "We must continue to be on our guard."

The comments reflected a spike of unease in Japan after several days of slow but steady progress in containing the nuclear crisis, which was triggered by a devastating earthquake and tsunami two weeks ago.

Over 10,000 people were killed and 17,500 are still missing in the disaster. But even those numbers have been eclipsed by the possibility of a catastrophic meltdown at Fukushima, just 250 km (150 miles) north of Tokyo.

Prevent dandruff

Tips to control dandruff

A few lifestyle modifications, constant hair care, healthy habits and a balanced diet can keep your scalp dandruff-free.

The simplest treatment is frequent and effective shampooing of the hair and the scalp. Mild dandruff can be treated by regularly shampooing the scalp with a mild, non-medicated shampoo. If this does not help, a medicated dandruff shampoo can be used.

Stop using styling products from gels to hairsprays in your hair. These hair styling products pose a potential threat by drying the scalp. Natural alternatives like henna may be of help for hair colouring.

10 Things To Say To Keep The Peace

Use these 10 go-to phrases to defuse potentially volatile conversations

1. "Thank you for your opinion. I'll think about it. " When you receive unsolicited advice at a family gathering, such as Aunt Sylvia's suggestion that you change your hairstyle, just smile and respond with this casual conversation terminator. If you're rudely asked a question like "Are you still single?" don't reply with a lengthy excuse. Say, "Yes, and I'll let you know if anything changes." The goal is to be polite and end the conversation. There is no need to be defensive or rude.

Focus

Focus on the circumstantial, and problems appear to magnify.
Pay attention to that which is eternal and true,
and problems take on a whole new appearance.

No, our difficulties may not vanish, but our experience of them changes
such that we see them differently, becoming open to ideas and aware of
resources unknown to us before. Where does your focus lie right now?

This video has very disturbing implications. Any vanguard of democracy would see that. The problem with all of you fools is that you have gotten dumb and lazy.

Army firing on protestors in Bahrain

Last Friday, at least 50 people have been injured as security forces in Bahrain opened fire on protesters for a second straight day. Protesters who tried to march to the square on Friday described a chaotic scene of tear gas clouds, bullets coming from many directions and people slipping in pools of blood as they sought cover.

New shocking video of Bahrain Army shooting protesters with automatic guns

Some claimed the gunfire came from either helicopters or sniper nests. The video shot by RT crew shows chanting protesters marching towards military vehicles before sustained gunfire erupts. Throngs of anti-government protesters took over the square earlier in the week, setting up a camp with tents and placards, but they were driven out by riot police in a deadly assault on Thursday that killed five people and injured more than 200.

Awsome Presence Of Mind

Awesome Presence Of Mind

An old man lived alone in Minnesota. He wanted to spade his potato garden, but it was very hard work. His only son, who would have helped him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and mentioned his situation.

Dear Son, I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't be able to plant my potato garden this year. I hate to miss doing the garden, because your mother always loved planting time. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot.

He met her on a party. She was so outstanding, many guys chasing after her, while he so normal, nobody paid attention to him.

At the end of the party, he invited her to have coffee with him, she was surprised, but due to being polite, she promised. They sat in a nice coffee shop, he was too nervous to say anything, she felt uncomfortable, she thought, please, let me go home.... suddenly he asked the waiter. "would you please give me some salt? I'd like to put it in my coffee."

Everybody stared at him, so strange! His face turned red, but still, he put the salt in his coffee and drank it.

Mothers Sacrifice

My mom only had one eye. I hated her... she was such an embarrassment. My mom ran a small shop at a flea market. She collected little weeds and such to sell... anything for the money we needed she was such an embarrassment. There was this one day during elementary school.
I remember that it was field day, and my mom came. I was so embarrassed.
How could she do this to me? I threw her a hateful look and ran out. The next day at school..."Your mom only has one eye?!" and they taunted me.

I wished that my mom would just disappear from this world so I said to my mom, "Mom, why don't you have the other eye?! You're only going to make me a laughingstock. Why don't you just die?" My mom did not respond. I guess I felt a little bad, but at the same time, it felt good to think that I had said what I'd wanted to say all this time.

20 money-saving tips for students

If you are a college student, cashlessness is a perpetual state of existence. Short on funds and craving for pleasurable pursuits, you have two options. Resign to your impoverished status, or go through the 20 pointers we have compiled for you. These will not only help you save and manage your money better, but also tell you how to make some on your own. Go on, read them-and have 20 times more fun.

MANAGING YOUR MONEY

1. Make A Monthly Budget: This doesn't have to be a complicated number-crunching exercise. A simple Excel sheet or the planner in your mobile will suffice. The idea is to keep track of your monthly expenses and plug any unnecessary spending. Start by listing your fixed expenditure like transportation cost, food, etc, and keep aside money for these. The balance can then be used for discretionary expenses like shopping, gifting or partying.

2. Plan Your Purchases: Has the Rs 1,000 spent on a dress for freshers' night left you broke? Simple mathematics and a bit of planning could have helped you avoid the situation. Cutting down your expenses by Rs 250 every month would have saved you Rs 1,000 in just four months and made the dress affordable. Planning ahead is an easy way to prevent bankruptcy.

One More Day to Live

"One More Day to Live
Be simple n humble like grass because when storms attack,

all big trees get uprooted, but simple grass survives.

One More Day to Live…

If I had only one more day to live,

All love, praise, and glory to you I'd give.

I'd try my best to put a smile on someone's face To share with them your saving grace.

I'd remember things about my life

The times you were there through fun and strife, And thank you then for all you've done.

Without you no victories would have been won.

If I have one more day before I die

I would apologize to the kid I made cry.

I would take back the harsh words said to everyone, And fill their hearts with laughter and fun.

If I only had one more day

I wouldn't push anyone away.

I wouldn't try to hurt a friend

Because I should love them to the very end.

Why not live each day as if it were our last Looking towards our future and forgetting the past To be a Christian each day we live And most importantly to always give.

Tough Laws around the world

FREEDOM OF HUMANS VERSUS LEGALITY OF TOUGH LAWS

Ignorance is no defense especially when it comes to ignorance of the laws in countries you plan to visit. While it may seem natural to study some of the general customs and laws in major foreign countries you might not expect, for example, to have to look for strange law changes in somewhere like Florida. Most places in the world are relatively easy to get along in. Some strange laws are nothing more than folklore. Every once in a while, though, you're going to run into something a bit off the wall and it's important for you to be prepared in advance.

In Italy it is illegal to feed the pigeons. Ok, that's a bit of a blanket statement. The rule actually has the potential to change from city to city. Make sure you leave the pigeons alone while you're in Venice, though the locals are tired of cleaning up pigeon poop. You'll also want to avoid jumping into fountains, walking around without your shirt on (would you DO that as a tourist), and sitting on the sidewalk to eat your lunch. Fines range from a warning to monetary infractions anywhere from $50 to $600.

Uncertianity Principle : It is impossible to know the position and motion of an elementary particle (e.g., an electron) at the same time. Werner Heisenberg discovered the Uncertianity Principle. Werner’s best subjects were mathematics, physics, and religion, but his record throughout his school career was excellent all round. In fact his mathematical abilities were such that in 1917 (when he was 16) he tutored a family friend who was at the university studying calculus.

Antimatter are particles of the same mass and composition as protons and electrons, but with an opposite electrical charge. When matter converts to energy, some residue is always left. Only part of the matter can be converted into energy. Not so with antimatter. When antimatter collides with matter, 100 percent of both matter and antimatter are converted into usable energy. A gram of antimatter would carry as much potential energy as 1,000 space shuttle external tanks carry.
